Getting Ready For Testing - The Fifth Devlog
This week we were moving towards our testing stage. This is where we got to have other students in our class play our games and give us feedback. So of course, we had to set up a few things to make the game easier to pick up.
The very first being the beginnings of a dialogue system.
Group member Luke made this beautiful dialogue box in which we began to add text. We built it so a message can be sent to it at any time when needed, and then displayed (or hidden with Q).
We decided a little tutorial area using these dialogue boxes would very much help new players get oriented.
We ended up with this semi-futuristic design, which has a tunnel that leads to a drop off back into the normal world.
You can see the tutorial text pop up to show you the way! Very nice.
We also chose to improve the floor textures:
And now, you can also: bonk your head into the window to destroy it! Nice.
And lastly we added another little 2D parkour section for our testers to play with.
Our testing session went pretty well, look forward to what's coming as a result next week!
