Making Progess - The Second Devlog

We made quite a few advancements this week. Some QOL upgrades, as well as design changes and beginning building the actual base of our levels.

First off, I'll give you a look at our work in progress level, and then take you through it.

Looking very nice! Let's have a look inside.

We've got our little upgrade vending machine in the corner, alongside a chair, for those who plan to purchase a newspaper and sit there and read it. The vending machine is perfect for dropping your change under! (And for me to pick it up to get myself a free snack!)

The beginnings of parkour:

A little area behind the counter, where you can climb up the boxes to get up! Very nice.

Let's take a look outside the building.

Outside, we've got... more parkour! This game is going to be very focused on parkour and puzzles. So we've started looking at different little areas we can make to climb up. Hidden areas that hold more cash.

One change we added relating to the original concept of our game was: the bar of truth. This bar slowly fills up as you accumulate money. As the money you have can raise "infinitely", you only need a certain amount to transform. This bar tracks how much you need to reach the next stage.

Speaking of stages:

Stage 2! We talked about the second stage originally being the cash register you can see in one of the earlier images. But we decided that it was kind of an odd transition, especially if we go back to a mass of coins later on. So we tried getting a piggy bank as our second stage. We're likely to still use the cash register, but for something else such as a bank.
