Setting Up For The Future - The Third Devlog


This devlog is going to be more on the shorter side, as we are mainly preparing for what's coming in the next couple of weeks. But there are definitely a few interesting changes and additions of features that we're ready to show off.

First off, we've got a big improvement to the store. It features a new, much larger design. This also includes a roof that felt "very Australian".


Now that the building is much larger, we have a lot more space to cram in puzzles. And here's a look at the inside.

Now, to show off a little feature we've been working on: 2D movement. Some 3D Mario games, as well as many others give you short sections in which you can move in 2D, harkening back to the older platformers. So we had a similar idea, and built some basic platforming areas that would be cool with the new system.

As you can see, plenty of space to climb, and objects to vault. All to get those coins all the way up there in the top right. And here's an example of it in progress. We're still working on how the camera will act during these sections (and the animations are being a little janky at the moment). But you can see the outside section's progress here:

Next week: expect some upgrades on what this piggy can do. You thought he was just gonna be the same as the coin? Nope, this guy has some new moves. You can teach a new pig new tricks... Okay, sorry.
